Hands on biodegradability training with the Philippines research team
In November we welcomed a team from a public research institution in the Philippines for a full week of biodegradability training in our laboratory in Lund. The visit follows their August purchase of ten BPC Blue units, which will support a national research programme focused on bio based polymers used in packaging, agriculture and other environmentally oriented applications.
The training week was led by João Vieira, PhD, Elton Melo, PhD, Nina Muratovska, PhD and Gangjing Liu, PhD who guided the group through the full operational workflow of BPC Blue. The sessions covered configuration of the instrument, calibration routines, reactor management for parallel testing, and data evaluation under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Each step was demonstrated with practical exercises that mirrored the test scenarios the team will run in their own facility.
This collaboration is a strong example of how we work with customers on complex testing programmes. BPC supplies automated systems for biodegradability assessment, but a large part of the value comes from the technical support and method expertise provided alongside the instruments. For multi unit installations such as this one, the combination of instrumentation, training and ongoing dialogue helps research teams generate reliable and comparable data from the very start of their programme.
The next step takes place on site in the Philippines, where we will support installation and initial testing of all ten systems in their laboratory. Once these preparations are complete the institution will begin its first round of material evaluations as part of the national programme.
Below is a selection of moments from their week in Lund.
