A new research partnership between BPC Instruments and AURI (Agricultural Utilization Research Institute) in Minnesota, USA, is set to support and develop innovation in the biogas space.
BPC Instruments and AURI recently signed a partnership agreement (press release) to foster innovation in biogas, particularly accelerating the adoption of rigorous anaerobic digestion testing methodologies for agricultural and bioindustrial applications. The collaboration includes applied research and professional services, education and workforce capacity building, and training on BPC’s instruments, such as AMPTS III.
Based in at AURI’s Bioindustrial Innovation Center in Waseca, Minnesota, the partnership builds on traditional anaerobic digestion methods using BPC’s novel technology. By using BPC’s expertise and systems, feedstock can be evaluated for performance and potential using BMP tests. AURI hopes this can help biogas producers in the area by investigating potential feedstocks only utilising small samples. Currently there are around 40 digesters in opepration in Minnesota, with around 20 of those being on farms. AURI hopes to improve decision making through data for digester operators. This process improvement will not only be achieved through data, but also hosting events where digester operators can ask questions about the industry.
