Ten systems installed in the Philippines this week 🇵đź‡
In August, BPC Instruments received an order for ten BPC Blue systems from a public research organisation in the Philippines, supporting a national programme focused on bio-based polymers. The programme aims to strengthen local capacity for biodegradability testing across a range of polymer applications.
Last week, Elton Melo, PhD, and Gangjing Liu, PhD, visited DOST-ITDI (Environment and Biotechnology Division) to install the systems and run onboarding on site. The installation and start-up activities included set-up routines, workflow discussions, and guidance on how to organise testing efficiently when scaling up capacity.

Supporting aerobic biodegradability testing in soil
The BPC Blue systems will be used mainly for aerobic biodegradability testing of polymeric materials in soil, aligned with standard methods and protocols. By running controlled tests with consistent procedures, the team can generate reliable and comparable data across different projects, materials, and conditions.
From training in Lund to start-up on site
The installation visit followed a week of training and consultation in November, when specialists from DOST-ITDI joined BPC in Lund for practical sessions. The programme covered standard protocols, experimental set-up, and data analysis, with a focus on building repeatable routines and confidence in day-to-day operation.
On-site installation is an important continuation of that work. It helps teams move from training to daily use in their own lab environment, with support tailored to their workflows, sample types, and planned test capacity.
Thank you
Thank you to the DOST-ITDI team for the warm welcome and strong collaboration. We look forward to following the programme as the systems move into full operation.
