A new book from Prof. Gustaf Olsson, the chairman of Bioprocess Control, for a deep understanding of the water-energy nexus

The book is officially released at IWA Publishing Exhibition booth during IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2018 in Tokyo in Sept. Read more about the reviews and Gustaf’s new book “Clean Water Using Solar and Wind: Outside the power grid”.

As described by Jame Workman during the interview of IWA-distinguished fellow, mentor of young water professionals, professor emeritus in Lund University and chairman of a Swedish innovation company – Bioprocess Control.

“When the conversation turns to water scarcity, someone invariably touts desalination, the upshot of which is to suggest that all we need is universal access to cheap energy. Most water professionals are tempted to respond (often with a sigh) that water governance is complex. Besides, the solution to scarce energy may conversely be more reliable access to water…”

Prof. Gustaf Olsson takes the question in an entirely new direction and has probed deep into the invisible but omnipresent nexus: showing how energy exploration, generation and use depend on water availability and quality, while water operations and consumption depend on energy…
